Frequenty Asked Questions
Frequently Asked QuestionsQ1. What does it cost? A. The cost of this service is £10. You can pay online using a credit or debit card. Q2. What do I receive when I register my wishes A. You will receive a certificate detailing your wishes to keep in a safe place. You will also receive 2 cards which you can pass on to loved ones so that they know that we have a record of your wishes. Your username and password chosen at registration will enable you to log into the site at any time to make changes to your wishes, should you wish to do so. Q3. Does this cost contribute towards the cost of a funeral? A. NO, neither does it contribute towards a funeral pre-payment plan. The cost covers registering your wishes online with us and any future changes that you wish to make to your wishes. Q4. Where will my wishes be stored and by who? A. Your wishes are entered online by yourself and in your own time. Your wishes will then be stored securely online by Co-operative Funeralcare who provide the 'If Anything Were to Happen to Me' service. We are part of the Co-operative Group and are the largest funeral director in the UK, with nearly 600 local funeral homes. You can rely on us to live up to our Co-operative values and principles of openness, honesty and caring for others when it matters most. Q5. How long will my wishes be stored for? A. Your wishes will be stored securely with 'If Anything were to happen to me' for life, until they are required by your family. Q6. What happens after I have registered my wishes? A. You will then receive your certificate and two cards, which you can use to let other people know where your wishes are held. You can expect to receive these within 14 days. As this is an online service, you will be expected to log in and make any future changes to your wishes yourself. You will not receive an updated certificate each time you change your wishes, but a new certificate can be issued upon request by contacting our Service Centre. Q7. Does this contribute towards Dividend points or am I entitled to any further Co-operative Group discounts? A. No, 'If Anything Were to Happen to Me' is not currently part of the Co-operative Group Dividend Scheme. Q8. What if I move house? A. You can change your address in the Personal Details section which you are automatically taken to when you sign in to the website. Q9. What if my wishes change? A. You can change your wishes at any time. Simply log into your wishes through the sign-in pages and you will be able to acces all of your wishes. You can then make as many changes as you like and these will be saved for you. Q10. Is there a charge to change my wishes? A. No. By logging on to this website and signing in with your username and password you can update your wishes as many times as you like. Q11. If I change my wishes, will I get another certificate posted to me? A. We don't automatically send out a new certificate each time you update your wishes. However if you would would like to receive an updated certificate please contact our Service Centre and we will be happy to do this for you. Q12.My wishes won't be the same later on in life, so why should I register? A. We recognise that your wishes may change later on in life and have provided you with your own access to your wishes, enabling you to log in and change them at any time, as many times as you want. Our experience tells us that those who have given thought to what they would like for their own funeral have helped to relieve the burden from loved ones when the time comes, making registering your wishes worthwhile. Q13. Could I just write my wishes in my Will or keep them in a safe place? A. Writing your wishes in your Will doesn't guarantee that your wishes will be made available in time for the funeral, as a Will is not usually read until after the funeral. Writing your wishes informally and keeping them in a safe place could also mean that your wishes are not found until after the funeral, or perhaps your list could be mis-placed. Documenting your wishes through 'If Anything Were To Happen To Me' allows you to update your wishes at any time with the support of an established funeral director and you will have a permanent document of your wishes, held securely for you until the time comes. Q14. How will my wishes be passed on to my loved ones when the time comes? A. On registering your wishes with 'If Anything Were To Happen To Me', you will receive 2 cards, which can be issued to family or friends to tell them where your wishes are held. When the time comes, your chosen representative should contact our Service Centre using the telephone number on the card. Your representative will be required to provide the following details in order to redeem your wishes:
Q15. Do Co-operative Funeralcare have to conduct the funeral as I have registered my wishes with you? A. No, you are not obliged to make the funeral arrangements with Co-operative Funeralcare. However we do have over 600 funeral homes though the UK and we will be happy to advise of your nearest funeral home. Q16. Can I cancel my wishes? Is the cost refundable? A. You can cancel the storage of your wishes by contacting our Service Centre where one of our advisors will be happy to assist you. However, the cost is non-refundable. Q17. Who can change my wishes? Are there any restrictions when deciding on a username and password? The username and password must be at least 6 characters long and contain only numbers or letters. Q19. What happens if I forget my sign in details or I have a problem with the form and need help? A.
